Session fee
$165

Per 55-minute session

Payment is due at the time of service. I accept credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards through my secure client portal.

Insurance

Aetna & out-of-network

I accept most Aetna plans. For all other insurance, I am out-of-network. I can provide a superbill you may submit for possible reimbursement, often 60–80% of the fee, depending on your plan.

Free consultation

20-minute video call

Before we commit to working together, I offer a free 20-minute video consultation so we can both get a sense of whether the fit is right. Get in touch to schedule one.

Do I need a consultation before booking?

It depends. I find the free 20-minute video consultation valuable for both of us before we commit to working together. It gives you a chance to ask questions and get a sense of how I work, and gives me a chance to make sure I'm the right person to help you. If video doesn't work for you, a phone call is fine too.

That said, if you've been referred by someone who knows my work well such as a trusted provider, a friend or colleague, we can both trust that we're likely to be a great fit. Or you might be reading this website and thinking "this is me!" If so, let me know. We may be able to skip the consultation and go straight to scheduling a first appointment.

What should I expect for our first session?

Before we meet, I'll connect you with my secure client portal. You'll complete a few brief questionnaires, get your payment information on file, and receive your video link if we're meeting virtually.

If you're coming to the office, I'm located at 10255 Commerce Drive in Carmel, inside Link Office Suites. There's ample free parking right outside. I'll give you a way to message me when you've arrived and I'll come find you. Help yourself to the coffee station, there's a proper machine, hot chocolate, tea, and filtered water.

It's completely normal to feel nervous meeting a new therapist. I'll be collaborating with you from the very beginning, we'll talk about what brings you in, what you're hoping for, and start figuring out how to get there together.

How long are sessions?

Typically 55 minutes, including time for me to offer additional resources you may wish to refer to between sessions.

How long will I be in therapy, and how often will we meet?

Ideally, we'll start by meeting weekly or biweekly, often enough to build a good, comfortable, creative relationship and address your needs as thoroughly as possible. We may continue at that pace for some time, or decide to space things out as you make progress.

As for how long, that varies greatly. Some people find therapy invaluable for self-care, growth, and awareness and continue for many years. Others come to address a particular issue and then choose to take a break or end. We'll figure all of this out together, with your time and financial constraints in mind.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a session, and I always appreciate advanced notice when possible. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are charged the full session fee.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes, I see clients both in my Carmel office and virtually across Indiana via SimplePractice, a secure and easy-to-use telehealth platform. You'll receive a link before each virtual session. All you need is a device with a camera and a private space.

Do you take insurance?

I accept most Aetna plans. For all other insurance, I am considered out-of-network, meaning I don't bill your insurance directly, but I can provide a superbill you may submit for possible reimbursement. Depending on your out-of-network benefits, this is often 60–80% of the session fee. This is negotiated directly between you and your insurance company.

I'd encourage you to call the member services number on your insurance card and ask: "Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits, and what is my reimbursement rate for CPT code 90837?" That's the standard code for a 55-minute therapy session, using it will get you the most accurate answer. Many people are surprised by what their plan covers.

What treatment methods do you use?

My approach is integrative and grounded in an existential, person-centered yet practical framework. Big questions get asked about the meaning of things, and also about how you're spending your Tuesday afternoons. We'll talk about the past, present, and future.

Some of the approaches I draw on: IFS (Internal Family Systems), Gestalt, somatic approaches, EMDR, narrative therapy, attachment-based approaches, DBT, CBT, solution-focused, and mindfulness. You don't need to know what any of those letters mean, feel free to ask me. And I'm always learning, so it's not unusual for me to try something that isn't on this list. What we do will be guided by your needs and will likely evolve.

What's your vibe?

I will deeply care about you and the things that trouble you. I will be in awe of you when I witness your lightbulb moments and hear about the positive changes you are making. I may cry with you. I will definitely laugh with you, and I might let some colorful language fly once we've gotten to know each other.

I can be a little kooky, but I think you'll find me grounded and practical too. I tend to like all sorts of people and I see the best in them. I also get real with folks when that's helpful, some people really want the therapist to tell it to them straight, and I do that. But I'm thoughtful and attuned to when that's useful versus when it's more powerful to just explore.

Do I need a diagnosis to start therapy?

No. You don't need a diagnosis to work with me. Many of my clients simply know that something isn't working and want support figuring it out. If you are using insurance, a diagnosis will be required for billing purposes, I can talk you through that if and when it's relevant.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, with a few important and legally required exceptions. I am required to break confidentiality if I believe you are at imminent risk of harming yourself or someone else, if there is suspected abuse or neglect of a minor or vulnerable adult, or if a court orders the release of records. Outside of those situations, what you share stays between us. We'll review this in full during our first session.

Where are you located, and do you offer telehealth across Indiana?

My office is at 10255 Commerce Drive, Carmel, Indiana 46032, inside Link Office Suites, a warm, comfortable space with free parking right outside. I see clients in person here and virtually via telehealth anywhere in Indiana.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs before starting services. This applies to all clients who are uninsured or who are not using insurance for our sessions.

Here's what that means for you: before or at your first session, I will provide a written estimate of the expected cost of services. For most clients, this is straightforward, $165 per 55-minute session, billed at the time of service.

Your rights: You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your first appointment. If you receive a bill that is $400 or more above your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For more information, visit cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.

If you have questions about this, please don't hesitate to ask, I'm happy to walk you through it.
