Becoming a parent, or a parent again, rocks your world.

If you feel overwhelmed, protective, scared, in love, shaky and uncertain all at once, you are not alone. Let's talk about it.

Matrescence, the process of becoming a mother, is one of the most significant psychological transformations a person can go through.
There are certain life transitions that change a person forever. Having a baby is one of them. You deserve a space to integrate what it means to you.

What we might work on together

Pregnancy anxiety

For many of us, the anxiety that comes along with growing a human can be all consuming. It is such a relief to have a place to sort through it and find ways of coping more effectively.

Meaning-making & identity

Who are you becoming? What kind of parent do you want to be? What parts of you do you wish to reclaim and how are you forever transformed? Having a baby doesn't have to mean losing yourself.

Family-of-origin patterns

Becoming a parent stirs up everything from your own childhood. We'll look at what you want to carry forward, and what you're ready to put down.

Postpartum emotions

The postpartum period is not just about depression. Rage, numbness, anxiety, disconnection, all of it deserves attention. You're not broken. You're in transition.

Pregnancy loss, grief & the decision to become a parent

Whether navigating loss, wrestling with the question of whether to become a parent, or somewhere in between, the grief, ambivalence, and complexity are real, and you're welcome here exactly as you are.

Relaxation & birth preparation

I still incorporate childbirth education and relaxation skills when appropriate, because sometimes what a client needs is both grounded information and a space to feel it all.

When Birth Was Harder Than You'd Expected

Processing the birth
you didn't expect

My frustration with how many women have traumatic, scary or unsatisfying birth experiences is what brought me to this work. As a former childbirth educator, I learned that even when folks prepare and have support, there is so much that cannot be controlled for or anticipated. When birth goes very wrong or just feels confusing or unsatisfying, having someone who can listen and help you understand what happened to you is deeply healing. Using narrative and somatic approaches, including EMDR if desired, we can collaborate to help you write a new story.
